More farewells, 21 November 2013

A happy/sad day as the Sweetpeas, Larkspur and Lathyrus left home - happy because they have gone together, as I always wanted, and sad because I will miss their sweet and silly ways.

A fond farewell, 10 November 2013

Today we bade a fond farewell to the first of  Dorable's babies to leave home.  Lovely Lupin was more than happy to welcome his new family, and I am sure that he and Tilda will have many years of fun playing together.  I still had a little bubble in private once he had left though, such a sweet and gentle soul he is.

Other news

We have had a worrying few weeks here with two of the girls, but seem to be through the worst now.  My lovely Lucy grew a mysterious lump on her face, we had it removed of course, but it was a miserable couple of weeks waiting for the histocytology report to come through.  Fortunately she has the all-clear, not the dreaded cancer, just a benign cyst which has been successfully removed and is not expected to recur. I also had Sophie spayed, and it hit her really hard poor girl - she has been very withdrawn and rather miserable, and only just coming back into herself now.  Again, all very worrying, but she is now fine.  Also, a very useful reminder that the younger a cat is when neutered the less impact it has on them.  Kittens barely even notice anything has happened to them, my poor Sophie all but had a nervous breakdown :-(

Now I just need to catch up on all my outstanding correspondence and start having people in to visit Dorable's babies.  They had their first vaccinations today, and had great fun at the vets, being cuddled by everyone - her biggest boy also had the biggest purr, although it was a close contest!

Teesside show, 24 August 2013

There were seven Dushenka cats at the show today, and what a great day we had!  Many congratulations to:
- Champion Dushenka Irina Kalinina who won her third Challenge Certificate and title, three 1st prizes and one 2nd in her four classes, all at just 10 months and 8 days old!
- Champion Dushenka Igor Stravinsky who, like his litter sister, won his third Challenge Certificate and title, three 1st prizes and one 2nd in his four classes: again, at just 10 months and 8 days old!

- Dushenka Jingle-Belle also won three 1st prizes and one 2nd in her four classes and also won Best of Breed,

- UK & IGrPr Dushenka Zerachiel won the reserve Olympian in an amazing class of 10 stunning boys, 1st in all his side classes, Best of Breed and Best Foreign Neuter!

- On her debut as a neuter Gr Ch Dushenka Tashabella on her first Premier Certificate and 1st in every class
MasterCat Stanley had a great day too, winning his second Grand MasterCat certificate and Best of Colour

Chester & North Wales show, 10 August 2013

There were just the two Dushenka cats at this show but again they had a great day!  Many congratulations to:
- Dushenka Irina Kalinina who won her second Challenge Certificate, three 1st prizes and one 2nd in her four classes, Best of Breed adult, and shortlisted down to the final two for best Foreign adult - and she's not yet 10 months old!
-
MasterCat Fen had a great day too, winning her first Grand MasterCat certificate and Best of Colour

Fen on the left, and Lina on the right - thanks to their owner Pamela for the photo

Special congratulations go to Heather McRae's Gr Ch Dayjoy Orla, who pipped Lina at the post for best Foreign Adult - Darna is a bit of a favourite of mine, and she was looking especially lovely.

Humberside and Lincolnshire shows, 27 July 2013

The extraordinary weather continued today, yet again boilingly hot but again, there were large fans around the hall, and netted open doors. I was there with four cats, after a particularly convoluted journey, but again we had some good wins, which more than made up for the effort it took to get to the show!
- Champion Dushenka Hanabella won the Challenge Certificate in both shows, her qualifying certificate and a spare!

-
Dushenka Igor Stravinsky, adult by just over a week, Iggy won four 1st prizes, two 2nds and a 3rd along with the Challenge Certificate in both shows, great results for my young boy, who purred and washed everybody he got his elegant silvery paws around
- Gr Ch Dushenka Zivabella  purred her way to another reserve Imperial Certificate, and made my heart turn over by looking so like her great-grandmother, my darling Baby Belle
- Dushenka Jingle-Belle  won five 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd prize, plus a Best of Breed award and was also happy and purry all day long

My especial thanks to Sarah Williams-Ellis of Serennol Russians, who went out of her way to help us all get to the show, including a place to stay the night before and giving us a lift to and from train stations.  Thank you again Sarah - we owe you!

- Dushenka Hubert and Dushenka Hanabella were out as adults for the first time, and took home a respectable three 2nds and two 3rds; and one 2nd and two third prizes respectively.  Flirty Bertie was shameless in his attention-seeking antics, rolling around and purring loudly whenever anyone spoke to him!

It was a more normal show today, leaving home at 0400 and getting home at 2200, having a busy day stewarding, as well as having three cats entered and enjoying pretty good days all round.  I was so proud of all three of them, who spent most of the day either sleeping or purring!
