Kitten news - Tasha

Week 14

This is the last update for this litter - and what a busy weekend we've had!  On Saturday Basil and Lucy made their show debut, with conspicuous success, with Basil winning two 1st prizes, including his open, but Lucy beating him to win Best of Breed, best of variety Foreign Kitten and Best in Show Foreign Exhibit!!  Their mum won her third grand certificate to become Grand Champion Dushenka Tashabella and their dad, Premier Dushenka Zerachiel, won his fourth premier certificate and Best of Breed neuter.

Then on Sunday it was time to wave bye-bye to darling Trixie-belle.  I did try and persuade her new owners that maybe they didn't really want her, but they weren't taking that nonsense from me!  Thank you Derek and Jackie for giving her such a perfect home.

Week 11

Beautiful babies! From left to right, Lucy, then Basil, then Trixie.

Week 9

The babies have now started coming downstairs, and met the old ladies too, although Stella was most interested in their food!  They are all lovely, lively babies with a neat line in feather-chasing, Trixie being the champion in that area, grabbing a feather-topped stick and running away with it.  They have now been out of the house for their first Big Adventure - a trip to the vets for their first injections.  My vet was most impressed with their sweet, gentle ways, with none of them being in the smallest bit fazed by the whole process.  By the time I got them home again all they were really interested in doing was finishing off their breakfast just as quickly as possible!

The adoption process is progressing very nicely - Trixie and Basil's owners have both been round now to meet the little ones and all the family, and a great time was had by all!

Week 8

Last week I couldn't get a decent photo of Basil, this week I could hardly get him away from the camera, except when Trixie-Belle got in front of him! My Lucy was more interested in gently snoozing on my knee, bless her. All three babies have started exploring more widely, and have been following in the grandmother's pawprints by 'helping' me on the computer, and then falling asleep on my knee.

I am happy/sad to say that we have started talking to potential new kitten owners to see if we have a match - the adoption process has commenced...

Week 7

I haven't had much luck yet this weekend in getting photos of my three super-charged streaks of flying blue fluff, but haven't given up yet!!  They are beginning to explore the wider world now, and are so sweet and playful.  Tasha is taking more breaks away from them now, and has enjoyed a few cuddles with her grown-up son Xander, who is delighted that she is around the house more again. He has also 'inspected' the kittens a few times, so it shouldn't be long before they are all playing together too.

Week 7 updated - finally, some photos, although Basil was too busy eating to pose for the camera.  You can see him at the back of the group shot though!

Week 6

From left to right, that's all three together then Lucy, Basil and Trixie at the end

I've been putting off thinking about parting with any of Tasha's little angels, but my friends have taken me firmly in hand, told me to be sensible and 'only' keep the one kitten!  Little Lucy is definitely mine, but it will be very hard to part with impish little Trixie, or sweet Basil either.  Those of you who have been in contact with me before, please let me know if you are interested in one of these darlings - drop me a line at dushenka@hotmail.co.uk. Be prepared for the Spanish Inquisition!!

Week 5

I think we have pedigree names sorted for all three kittens now - Blue Basil, Bellatrix and Belucia.  The babies have started to eat solid food, with little Trixie even helping herself to some of her mum's dry food - and they are using their litter tray too!

They are lovely, lively babies, happily tumbling and scampering around together.  Tasha sits by watching their antics indulgently before they all come back to her and collapse in a happy, purry heap together.

Week 4

I am so in love with these kittens, it's ridiculous!  They are the sweetest, gentlest babies and I must admit I am thinking about just keeping both girls whilst telling myself I really, really shouldn't.  Not that I wouldn't love to keep the boy too.  He is pretty definitely named - Basil - but I haven't quite sorted out the girls' names yet.  Tasha decided she would like a little break away from her babies today, and came and sat on my knee in a sunny spot by the window, purring contentedly while the little ones slept peacefully.  The moment they woke up she was back in the nest with them, like the wonderful mother she is.  They have also started sniffing their mum's food, so we will probably start trying to wean them soon.

Week 3

All three kittens are now happily toddling around their pen, playing together, and generally continuing in their utterly charming, and distracting, ways!  They all love tummy-tickles and have quite a cheeky way about them.

Week 2

The babies are all so distractingly sweet it's amazing I am getting anything done.  Tasha is a happy, purry relaxed mother again and is as distractingly lovely as her kittens.

Week 1

Tasha's babies are doing well, as is Tasha, who is happiest when I sit by her, hand-feeding her whilst she feeds he babies!  Her kittens are so funny - they have the choice of eight different places to feed, but still end up arguing about the best place!

Their eyes all started opening in good time, with my little girl being the first one to survey me blearily.

New kittens!

After a long break my darling Tasha has had three gorgeous little kittens.  As I have been saying throughout her pregnancy, at least one is staying with me, so they are probably all spoken for already.

She is a fantastic mother, keeping her babies spotlessly clean, and asking me to 'guard' them for her when she needs to go to the loo, all of four feet away from the kitten pen!

I am so proud of my girl, and daddy Zach.

Happy mum and babies
